Shopping By Labels

When you think of shopping by labels, you're probably thinking of your favorite designer brands. But in this post, I'm talking about shopping by garment care labels. This never used to be a concern for me, but when I moved out and had to do all your dry-cleaning myself, this became a dreaded task! One piece of advice my mom really instilled in me is to look at the garment care instructions before making a purchase. If the piece of clothing is not very expensive, but the instructions say dry-clean only, then maybe you should reconsider the purchase. Why spend more on dry-cleaning fees than the actual item itself? It doesn't make sense! Make sure if you invest in something, that you won't mind spending some extra money to maintain it.

While shopping for a new pair of dressy trousers, I made sure that even though the shorts were a silk blend, they could be washed at home.

Do you ever shop by labels? Would you reconsider a purchase because of the care instructions?
