After a few weeks of trying to hide my emerging roots and split ends, I think it's time to face the fact that I need to make a hair appointment. Normally, this isn't a date I dread. But since I'm not in California anymore, I have to find myself a new hairdresser!
Because I'm also on a tight budget, I decided to look up some hair salon schools in the Toronto area. Students and recent grads are faced with getting a certain number of hours before they can become qualified, so they offer up their services for a reduced rate. I've heard this is a great way to save money on a hair cut, but I'm still a bit nervous trusting my hair to someone with such little experience.
What do you think about letting a recent graduate cut and color your hair? Do you think the risk is work the reduced rate?

I've went to the hair/aesthetic school directly, which are still at massively reduced prices. Benefit to doing it this way, if the teacher will fix any mistakes that could be made. There is no way you'll leave unsatisfied... it just might take a lot longer than what you're used too. The students are usually thru their first 12 months and have practice on mannequins or other clients. I HAVE on the other hand been victim to a newbie hairdresser in a salon, or a friend that came over... and that... well... hasn't ended as well.
Thanks for the advice! I'm definitely going to try it out now :)
